Build practical AI skills for everyday life and confidence for the future.
The session is being delivered by Port Stephens digital skills educator Bec Smith, founder of AI Pocket Rocket, as part of Get Online Week and the Australian Government Be Connected initiative.
This free, hands-on session is for Port Stephens residents aged 50+ who want to learn how to use AI safely and confidently, with support as they practice.
With support throughout the session, you will learn how to get started with an AI chat tool and practice using it to plan a memorable day out for friends or family.
Come on your own or bring a friend. No previous AI experience is required. Only 20 spaces available.
During the session, you will learn:
– useful ways AI can support everyday life
– how to get started with an AI chat tool
– how to ask questions and give instructions that produce more useful answers
– how to check and improve AI responses
– important things to consider when using AI safely
– how to build confidence through hands-on practice
Why build AI skills now?
AI is becoming part of everyday life, work and the services we use.
Building some basic AI capability now can help you feel more confident as technology continues to change.
You do not need to become an AI expert.
The goal is to understand what it can help with, know how to start using it safely and develop practical skills you can continue building over time.
Who is this session for?
This session has been created especially for people aged 50+ who:
– are curious about AI but are not sure where to start
– have heard a lot about AI but have had little or no hands-on experience
– want practical examples rather than technical explanations
– would like support while they practice
– want to feel more confident using new technology safely
