I began my radio career at the age of 18 at 2NZ Inverell.
To quote the late Harry Chapin from his hit song “W.O.L.D.”: “I remember how we listened to the radio and I said that’s the place to be”.
In my high school years, with a love of all music, I was consumed by dreams of working in radio.
There was no community radio back then so you had to “go bush” to get your “air legs”, before any thoughts of getting back to the city.
Apart from my own daily 2-6pm music show in Inverell, I spent each morning sourcing, writing and presenting local news.
I left 2NZ for 2ST Nowra, before returning to the big smoke with lengthy stints at (the then) 2UW, 2UE and 2GB.
In all, my career spanned three decades and, now, I have come full circle, returning to radio with a weekly show on Port Stephens FM which I thoroughly enjoy.
